Course Description

Technology is a part of our lives whether we like it or not. What you may not realize is that, in addition to technology having an impact on our professional life and personal life, it can have an amazing and transformative impact on our spiritual life! 

During this class, you are going to learn three great ways to use technology in your relationship with God. One of the ways will be directed specifically to your time in personal prayer, while the other two ways will provide you with tools for making sure that you and God connect in meaningful ways throughout the day. 

Through what you learn during this course, you will experience a whole new continuity between the time you spend in personal prayer and the rest of the day. You will find yourself growing more quickly and more deeply in specific characteristics of Christ. 

While much of this course can be applied to all smart phones and tablets, it specifically focuses on iPhone and iPad apps.

Tom Elliott

Tom Elliott is a certified spiritual director and the owner of Deepwardly, LLC. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Saint Meinrad College and a Masters of Divinity from Notre Dame in New Orleans. Tom completed a three-year training program in spiritual direction from the Institute of Priestly Formation at Creighton University. He also received supervision training in spiritual direction from the Sophia Spirituality Center. He is a member of Spiritual Directors International and has been offering spiritual direction and retreats for twenty-five years. In addition to directing and supervising about seventy men and women each month, Tom owns the Deepwardly School of Spiritual Direction, which trains men and women of all faiths in the ministry of spiritual direction. He and his wife, Carmel, also own Cedar Ridge, a retreat center on top of a ridge in central Arkansas. Tom is also the author of the books, "The Intimacy You Desire" and "Becoming Wholehearted".

Tom's calm, step by step pace allowed a "non-technical" person to breeze through this helpful course.His practical examples and ways to use the apps were most appreciated. I am sure that I will return to this course for occasional "refreshers" on the various steps and ways to use the iPhone and iPad to be very mindful throughout the day of what I have been reflecting on in my prayer life!
